Supervision

As a student counsellor you are looking for a supportive supervision environment to help develop your skills and theoretical application in a safe confidential environment.

My name is Rory Lees-Oakes, a qualified practicing  counsellor, supervisor, trainer  and member of the BACP.

I have taught counselling at practice level and for over a decade and understand the needs of students  who are about to embark on their counselling journey. I supervise predominantly in the Person Centred approach, but acknowledge how some psychodynamic theories may influence your practice.

I offer a warm supportive and educative approach, which will allow you to flourish as a practitioner.

If you are looking for a supervisor, they why not get in contact with me?

I also offer supervision via Skype or Vsee for those of you who may live some distance away from my location.

BACP recommendation for student counsellor supervision;

“It is important that all practitioners have adequate supervision according to their case load, experience and the context in which they are working. In respect of trainee supervision, supervisors need to ensure the supervisees work: ‘satisfies professional standards’ (Good Practice point 56). The requirements for BACP accredited course placements for student counsellors/psychotherapists in training are:

  • 1 hour of supervision for every 8 hours of client work
  • not less than an overall minimum of 1.5 hours per month
  • delivered not less than fortnightly “

Personal Counselling

A majority of courses ask you, the student  to undertake your own personal therapy,  I offer a block discount if you wish to commit to ten or more sessions.
